Parents, Our combination classes are classes for our younger students that offer a combination of styles. For example, 3 year olds & 4 year olds are taught Ballet & Tap, with the emphasis on Ballet; Pre-K & Kinder students are taught Ballet, Tap and Jazz. 1st & 2nd graders are taught Ballet, Tap, Jazz & Hip Hop. The goal is for the younger dancer to understand the different styles of dance so that once they enter 3rd grade, they are ready to choose the classes they want to focus on. This leads me to the explanation of Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. A typical BEGINNER is a 3rd, 4th and 5th grader. However, if a student is in the 7th grade, for example, and has never taken tap before, he or she is beginner. An INTERMEDIATE dancer is typically 6th, 7th & 8th grade. Our high school students are typically considered ADVANCED, assuming they have been through the beginner and intermediate levels of technique. These levels are based on age and ability. If you are unsure of where to enroll your child, please enroll him or her based on age and we will move your child, if needed. We take 4-6 weeks to assess our students to ensure they are properly placed.
